“Insurance and claims has been my entire 30+ year career. Most people say they fell into insurance but in my case it saved me from accountancy. Aged 18 I joined the industry as a trainee claims handler and rose through the ranks, but I became disillusioned by insurers who were too focussed on the numbers, not the customers. Being a ski instructor at the local slopes was my respite and both insurance and skiing have been life-long love affairs ever since. After a long career in claims working for firms like AGF and Direct Line, I was enticed to the legal industry, but always with a focus on claims and personal injury. A series of poorly run legal firms and a few years later I realised that there had to be a better way. In 1998, I set up Alps, an add-on provider and claims management firm with a simple mission – to do the right thing.”

“I first walked through the door of ALPS as an apprentice software developer over 20 years ago. Through fantastic mentoring by Julian, Lee and Rex, a lot of good luck, a great team, and the occasional good idea – I have then progressed on my ALPS journey ever since. The journey took me through being IT Manager, then IT & Operations Director and finally in 2016 when ALPS joined the EOS community I was promoted to be Managing Director.”

“I began my career at ALPS in the motor claims department whilst also completing my legal studies. In 2010 I qualified as a solicitor and in 2014 I helped to launch ALPS legal practice, becoming one of the first ABS’s and youngers managers to be authorised by the SRA. I am primarily responsible for overseeing our motor claims service from FNOL to litigation but I also have good knowledge and experience of our wider group products and services.”

“I qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ICAS) in Edinburgh in 1993. The start of my career was in private practice building my own practice in which I worked closely with ALPS on a consultancy basis. I later joined the ALPS team permanently in 2009 as Group Frinance Director. I have successfully supported the significant growth of ALPS and later also became the head of HR.”

“I started out as a software developer in 2013 for a standalone software company, still under the Alps umbrella, building smart systems for Alps. As Alps grew, the companies merged into one, and the IT department was brought in-house to purely focus our efforts on this company. At this point I was promoted to IT Manager. In time, with my continued improvement and growth, I joined the senior leadership team as the new Head of IT.”

“Since joining the team in early 2023, I’ve been nurtured in my growth. I originally joined as a claims handler and am now Alps’ Marketing Executive. I’ve found a passion for weaving creativity and strategy into impactful campaigns and I now head all advertising, design, events, brand and social – so if you ever receive an email or see a post on LinkedIn, it’s probably from me! With the constant support from Alps each week, I am well on my way to becoming a fully confident marketer and I look forward to all I can do for the company.”

“I have been a business development manager here at Alps for around four years now but started working at the company nearly 9 years ago as a claims handler. I enjoy my job immensely, researching and identifying new business opportunities including new markets, areas of growth, trends, building strong relationships with customers and networks and exploring new products and services and finding new ways of reaching existing markets.”

“I started my sales career with doing door-to-door sales for 6 months before starting my new job here at Alps as a Junior Sales Executive. The experience in sales previously has helped me tremendously within this role, helping maintain relationships and exercise exciting new business opportunities leading to strong long-term relationships. I love that I get to learn new skills through implementation, and having a great experienced team around to call on when needed is very useful. I am confident in my growth here.”

ALPS Claims & Legal Team

Nick Copley
Nick CopleyLegal Team Manager
As Legal Claims Manager, I use my expertise in road traffic litigation to help lead ALPS’ legal claims service. I have worked in law firms dealing with road traffic litigation since 2009. When I joined ALPS as a fee earner in 2015 I was dealing mainly with injury claims.
The litigation we deal with has evolved over recent years due to layers of industry reforms. I now deal with the likes of Personal Injury, commercial cases and more.
